And its pretty Kick Ass (pun intended).  This was a really fun painting to do, kind of graphic novel style which I love and think I will do some more of.  Have a great weekend everybody...enjoy!

Sepia Nude #1 Complete 05/14/2012

...or as much as I am going to work on it any more.  There are still some technical issues I catn figure out like why sometimes white and vandyke mix a lighter brown and other times I get a grey which I dont want.  Very odd, and irritating.  Hopefully I am proabaly the only one that it will annoy!
Thanks for browsing by!

Going well so far, but getting the right mix of paint and medium\turps to spread smoothly is a trial.  Its interesting...I find that taking a picture and then looking at your work is like stepping back from the canvas but in a more direct 2-D sense..you really see the mistakes!  Now to fix them...

Tonal Studies #1 04/15/2012

Stared a new piece today and I want to try something; doing the whole painting in one value suchas vandyke or natural umber with little or no white used.  Highlights are created by leaving the canvas raw or by subtraction rather than addition.  Here is the first of possible four studies so far.

Halle Berry as Storm - Rough Draft 04/12/2012

As much as I really love a finished product, I cant help but enjoy the raw nature of the understudy.  Granted, the subject matter is comic book born and lends to a monotone rendering, but none the less it just looks cool in its starkness.
